Re: Advice

My advice, from my experience. I went through Cape May Police Academy, and only saw my new born 3rd daughter for an hour and started the academy for Class II. SLEO II route is not a bad idea. I delivered pizza and washed dishes on the side to support a family of 5. After one summer in Wildwood City ...

Re: Police Officer or Sheriff Officer

No answers are wrong here. You have to consider all the factors of long term, specially if you have a family to raise. I always went for what I would enjoy doing. For all three of my careers I always went for what would benefit me and my family. I am on the PD side, in one of the most proactive in N...

Re: Past employment

I agree, every department is diffirent. Although that doesn’t disqualify you right away with your employment history. You can honesty say that things just did not work out for whatever reason. Be honest with them. I was in the same position at one point, but I kept trying. I was willing to take any ...

Re: Camden County SLEO II

Most likely walking a beat with the duties being the same as the full time guys. Don't know about any contract, but they dramatically lowered the pay. Use to be $35 an hour latest I saw was $18. Not just walking beat, they are treated equally with respect and expectations as full time officers. You...

Re: Questions about SLEO II hiring processes

NLamendola1995 - Pretty much got it on point. I was in the winter academy at one point. I had a few buddies there who were an hour to two hours away. It’s how much you want and willing to sacrifice for this type of career. I was lucky to have a good support systems when I did, comes along way. Winte...

Re: To go-or not-to go

I agree, everything that was said above should definitely be considered. I wouldn’t throw all the eggs in one basket. Just because you respond to the cert, does not mean you will immediately will get hired. I would personally respond, and have the options later to decline the job, that if your compe...

Re: Camden County SLEO I and SLEO II

They usually send people through the academy for Class 2. They also waived their class 2 to full time. You’ll get a lot of experience there as a SLEO 2. Class 2 boots are working on the streets.

If you have any other questions, PM me. I can’t speak for the department. I will share what I know.
