Probationary Police Officer
Full Time - Edison Main Campus

SALARY: $40,083.00 Annually
OPENING DATE: 1/30/19
CLOSING DATE: 2/13/19 11:59 PM
UNIT: Fraternal Order Of Police
DEPARTMENT: Police
REPORTS TO: Chief of Police

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Protect life and property within MCC facilities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Patrol the campus and respond to calls for service by vehicle, bicycle, and foot.
2. Recognize the unique nature of campus policing and the value of the utilization of College resources such as counseling and student affairs professionals.
3. Enforce laws, traffic regulations, and safety regulations; apprehend and arrest violators when necessary.
4. Investigate and record irregularities which occur during assigned shifts and take necessary action within limits of prescribed policies and procedures to correct the situation.
5. Provide security and crowd control for large gatherings such as sporting events, dances, concerts, and other campus activities.
6. Maintain a log of daily activities.
7. Access student and staff records from the College computer database system when required in the course of investigations in compliance with FERPA and all privacy laws, regulations, and policies.
8. Testify in court as a witness.
9. Participate in required in-service and staff training mandated by the College, outside agencies, and statutes.
10. Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current/valid New Jersey PTC Certification or Class II Special Police Officer Certification required; individuals currently enrolled in a New Jersey Alternate Route Program may apply
• Valid Driver's license
• Two years of work experience dealing with the general public
• Must meet eligibility requirements for PFRS Pension System

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• College degree preferred and compensated per collective bargaining agreement

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:


SCHEDULE: Monthly Rotating Schedule - 8 Hour Shifts, 40 Hours per Week
5 Days on 2 Days off
Weekend and Holiday Work Required


RETIREMENT: Police and Firemen's Retirement System

Seems like you’re the only one. Just curious what County do you reside and what LE background do you posses? Trying to determine if that has to do with who they call...
