Rutgers PD 2022 process

Post by NJ155 »

Did anyone here apply for this Last current hiring process?
And has anyone heard anything since community review board interviews?

I know some who have been in the process and so far, they specifically haven’t heard anything up to this point. Which isn’t a bad thing……Even though this agency received a favorable contract, things like the review board, the fact that campus police have no PERC protection and are now at-will employees (case law regarding this exists for now), and the fact that they had millions of dollars worth of grievances traded in for this favorable contract, its probably a place that, if people aren’t hearing back, it’s not the worst thing. Risking your career and well-being at a place like this is worth reconsidering.

If you’re interested in this process, with any campus (especially the ones in Newark i.e. njit, eccpd) get in and get out asap.

I want to stress once again, before applying to any of these agencies…please take this into consideration.

This bill has been introduced to close a loophole that njit used to screw quite a few of their employees.

Synopsis: currently, all non civil service and non municipal police officers such as campus (non-cs only) nj transit, Delaware river bay authority and equivalent have no due process rights because of an appellate decision. The case is in the Supreme Court to address the discrepancy.

Be mindful, that yes it’s important to get hired wherever you can, but just be mindful, without rights in place, you are an at-will employee. Most places back their people. Some don’t. Rutgers for example was one of the agencies who fought against these rights. Be mindful of your rights.
